Homecoming Hijinx

Today was the first day of Homecoming Week, so, logically, it was time to introduce my district's formative assessment to my Spanish 2 students... (actually, it's the last two weeks of the quarter and the formative just happens to be during this insanely busy week... fellow teachers, I'm sure you know how it goes!)

The task was:

Our curriculum writers focused on task-based instruction this year, aligned to ACTFL standards.  The prompt (a long paragraph)  that students read had essential vocab and grammar that we had studied the past eight weeks.  

My students thought the task was super intimidating at first, but I guided them through these steps:




I'm planning to put this information on an anchor chart for my classroom!
