Lo siento... haven't kept up with the blog idea too much. Let's have a recap of the past two weeks:

Español 4:

This week  and last, we watched the movie EL NORTE.  It is the story of two Guatemalan immigrants, Rosa and Enrique, and their struggles to come to the United States and make a living, while retaining their native culture. 

Students had to fill in a list of vocabulary, keep track of the characters in the movie, answer short answer questions, and write an essay on one of four themes. 

Students had essay conferences with me about their writing, which they had to re-write and edit. 

Finally, on Thursday we went over the grammar topic of gender of nouns.  The homework was from Asi Se Dice textbook, page 23 activity 14 and page 25 activity 16. 

Lunes, 11 de agosto

Today we began the short story "Bernardino."  The assignment was quesitons 1 and 2.

Martes, 12 agosto.

Today we continued with "Bernardino," and we made a tarjeta de identificación.  On a 1/2 sheet of colored paper, students had to write a paragraph about themselves in Spanish, and then attach a picture.  Additionally, students had to answer questions 3-8 from Bernardino.

Miércoles, 13 de agosto.

We continued with Bernardino.  The assignment was questions 9-15. 

Miércoles, el 6 de agosto

Today we did an introduction of the class.  I explained the class syllabus, rules of the classroom, and class procedures. 

Syllabus signature and dry erase marker/tissue box is due on MONDAY.

Jueves, el 7 de agosto

Today we did a bingo de compañeros activity, and then I assigned 1-minute presentations for Friday on introducing yourself to the class.

Viernes, el 8 de agosto

Today we had our 1-minute presentations.   I also explained how to use remind101 and the classroom blog.
